At Wayfinder, sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s the foundation. From soil to cellar, every decision we make is designed to regenerate the land, support biodiversity, and produce wines that are a true expression of place.
Certified organic, naturally regenerative
Wayfinder is proud to be an Australian Certified Organic (ACO 13155) vineyard, but for us, certification is just the beginning. We farm with the future in mind, using organic and regenerative practices that enrich the soil, build resilience in our vines, and create healthier ecosystems across the property.
Living systems
Our vineyard is alive with biodiversity. Chickens roam under vine, sheep graze between rows, and bees pollinate native bushland as well as our extensive market garden. As a certified Bee Friendly Farm, we protect pollinators and the integrity of our ecosystem, a commitment that extends to our revegetation program and orchard.
We are also one of only four Margaret River producers participating in the EcoVineyards Program, a national initiative that advances biodiversity in Australian viticulture. We are a proud registered member of Land for Wildlife, recognising and supporting native species that call our property home.
Alongside Western Grey Kangaroos, Laughing Kookaburras, and Forest Red-tailed Black-Cockatoos, we’re working to provide safe habitat for threatened species, including the Western Ringtail Possum, Quenda, and the Dunsborough Burrowing Crayfish. Our approach includes planting native flora, restoring crucial habitat, and removing invasive weeds, all without the use of chemicals or herbicides.
Beyond the vineyard
Beyond the vineyard, we extend this ethos to every part of our business, choosing sustainable packaging wherever possible, sourcing local and like-minded producers for our restaurant, and giving back to the community through education, training, and hosting onsite events that share what we’ve learned.
We are also a signatory to the Margaret River Wine Association’s Lightweight Glass Packaging Charter, a regional initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Wine packaging accounts for 44% of emissions across the wine lifecycle, and by switching to lightweight glass bottles, we can reduce this by more than 20%. As part of this collective effort, Wayfinder is committed to reducing the average weight of our 750ml bottles to below 420 grams by 2027.
Gentle in the winery, light on the planet
Our purpose-built winery, set to open in 2026, is designed to embody this same philosophy. Entirely off-grid and powered by solar and battery, it will capture rainwater, recycle wastewater for reuse, and redirect CO₂ emissions from fermentation to minimise environmental impact.
Every byproduct, from grape skins to lees, will be composted and returned to the vineyard, closing the nutrient loop and enriching soil health. This is winemaking that considers every footprint, producing expressive wines, resilient vines, and healthy soils for the future.
“Farming organically, promoting soil health and encouraging biodiversity on the property creates a greater connection between the vines and the terroir, ultimately resulting in more expressive wines.”
