One place. Many expressions.

Wayfinder farms 37 hectares of vines across our 100-hectare, Australian Certified Organic (ACO 13155) property in Wilyabrup in the heart of the Margaret River wine region. Just 7km from the Indian Ocean and sitting 105 metres above sea level, our vineyard benefits from cooling maritime breezes, ancient gravelly soils, and gentle rolling slopes. This unique setting allows us to grow organically certified grapes with purity, texture, and precision.

Soil, structure, and site

Each block is hand-tended and hand-harvested in multiple passes, with parcels vinified separately to preserve nuance and site expression. Fruit is picked early with a focus on phenolic ripeness rather than sugar levels, allowing the character of variety, season, and vineyard to shine.

First planted in 1994, our vineyard sits on a mosaic of ancient soils within the Leeuwin Complex, a laterite ridge formed from weathered granite and gneiss more than a billion years ago. Overlain with sand, limestone, and ironstone gravels, these soils are joined by Forest Grove and Keenan loams, as well as the well-drained sandy gravels of Mungite. Together, they shape the structure and character of our wines. Naturally free-draining, they allow roots to grow deep, building strength and resilience over time.

Our property’s tree-lined drives and gentle slopes provide natural shelter from strong westerly winds, while the nearby coast brings cool evening air and long ripening windows, encouraging balance, natural acidity and phenolic ripeness. We grow small parcels of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Regenerative by nature

Certified Organic (ACO 13155) and part of the EcoVineyards and Sustainable Winegrowing Australia programs, our vineyard is designed to work with the land, not against it. We farm without synthetic inputs, restore soil vitality, and nurture biodiversity through inter-row planting, native revegetation and habitat protection. We plant multi-species cover crops and encourage inter-row diversity to strengthen soils and enrich microbial life below ground, fostering insect biodiversity and favouring complexity over control.

We apply organic fertilisers only when and where they are needed and carefully manage soil compaction using tools like the Yeomans plough, cover crops, and restricted tractor access. We use integrated pest management, shifting away from reactive sprays and quick fixes that upset the natural balance of the vineyard.

“Sometimes the best decision is to do less. We’re not chasing perfection. We’re working in conversation with the land. You accept losing a little to gain a lot. If you knock everything out with one tool, you throw the whole system out of balance.”

— Yann Vaucher, Vineyard Manager

The vineyard is evolving

Our vineyard is always in motion. As we continue to work on bringing life back into the soil, we are also trialling new clones and rootstocks, pulling out old vines, preparing fresh plantings, and reworking older blocks to meet the future with intention. We are constantly trying new things to see this site through a different lens and bring new components to our wines.

Even with the challenges of organics, from weed control to unpredictable weather patterns, the vision remains holistic: integrating animals, nurturing soil biology, and building biodiversity from the ground up.

Meet Yann –
 Our Vineyard Manager

“We are striving to regenerate and enrich soil, growing a diversity of plant species on property to increase biodiversity and overall vine health.  The result is 100% organic grapes from Margaret River that reflects the unique and beautiful terroir of the region.”

Yann began his career as a sommelier in his native France before discovering his true calling outdoors among the vines. He refined his craft in Orange, NSW, and later at Juniper Estate in Margaret River. After a pit stop in Bordeaux and then the UK, he now leads vineyard operations at Wayfinder.

With a hands-on approach and a sharp instinct for organic and regenerative farming, he brings deep care and quiet confidence to every block.
