Wayfinder's new winery was never meant to sit on the landscape; it was designed to disappear into it. Built into a former turkey-nest dam, with rammed earth walls and a roof of endemic planting, the space brings the vineyard, garden, cellar door and restaurant into one connected place, all of it running off-grid.
In Episode 2 of Building Wayfinder, Architect and Director Patrick Kosky of Kerry Hill Architects and Wayfinder CEO Paul McArdle walk through the thinking behind the design — the decision to build into the dam, the materials that anchor the winery to its surroundings, and why the work doesn't stop at the building, but carries out into the land we're actively bringing back to life.
